ILM Accredited Programmes

Why ILM?
The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) is the largest awarding body for leadership and management qualifications, recognised nationally. The flexible approach means that, as all qualifications are unit based, you can build up your qualification by taking bite-sized chunks of learning. You can start with an Award in your chosen area and then take further units to build this qualification into a Certificate and then a Diploma.
There is a wide range of qualifications to meet your needs. These include management, leadership, coaching and mentoring and Action Learning Facilitation. They are delivered at different levels which correspond to your job role, from level 2 for Team Leaders to level 7 for Executive Managers and Strategic Leaders. All qualifications are practical, as they are assessed by using real situations in your workplace, allowing you to apply the theoretical frameworks in practice.
Why Rocket?

Which course is right for you?
There is a wide choice of units which you can combine to create a qualification which is right for your situation and the issues facing you in your workplace. These will lead to a qualification in either Leadership and Management or Coaching and Mentoring.
You need to select a level which is appropriate for your job role. This is important as the assessment is based on the functions you carry out at work. You can build the qualification up from small beginnings. You can start off by gaining an Award, which you could achieve after four or five taught sessions. If you like this experience and can see real value in what you have learned (we’re sure you will!), you can add on further units to build your qualification into a Certificate, or even further into a Diploma.

Can the courses be tailored?
ILM has recently just reviewed its qualifications and on 1st September 2012 is introducing a new framework which provides greater flexibility, a more rational approach to unit titles and greater opportunities for progression.
How much work is involved?
You will need to do a work-based assignment or reflective review to demonstrate your learning for each unit. You will be supported in this by your personal tutor, who will also recommend some supplementary study material. You can expect this to take around 10 hours for each unit you do. We provide you with a handbook at the beginning of your programme to outline the assessment requirements, the timetable of taught sessions and any other time you will need to spend on the course, for example carrying out coaching sessions.
